Homeschool Poetry Idea (Early Elementary)

While searching for Fancy Nancy books at our library, we discovered Fancy Nancy: Poet Extraordinaire!

We copied the idea in the book of creating a "poet-tree," which was a huge help in keeping my daughter interested in poetry. We also followed the book's guidance in what type of poetry to write: name-based poetry, poetry about people, poetry about feelings, poetry written by other people, etc. 

In addition to using Fancy Nancy's poetry ideas, we used Bravewriter's Tuesday Tea idea for reading poetry! If you haven't heard of Bravewriter, you're missing out, in my opinion. We use Jot-It-Down and have been very, very pleased.
