Tuesday's Take Time To Care: Hold the door open for people today

Tuesday's Take Time to Care - I hope to use Tuesdays as a day to remind myself how to look outside myself and care about others through volunteering, helping a friend, smiling at a stranger, or encouraging a family member.

I went to school at Texas A&M University ... (ahem) ... few years ago. When I was there, the university's culture strongly encouraged the male students hold doors open for the female students. Now, this was not meant to be condescending to females or suggest that girls couldn't open their own doors. It was just a way to be kind and show that they were thinking of other people on campus (and maybe, score a date!).

So, with that in mind, are there any doors you can hold for people today?

Some ideas:
1. Notice that the person walking in from your office parking lot has full hands and wait for them to get to the door so that you can hold it open for them.
2. Be aware that your spouse has just pulled into the driveway and stop what you're doing to open them door for him/her to come inside with a greeting.
3. Recognize that a new mom is struggling to get the stroller through the store's doors and hold it for her.

Such a wonderful idea/challenge. Sometimes we are so caught up with ourselves (because we are running late or are reading our smartphone while walking etc.) that we don't even realize that someone is right behind us about to go through the same door. Thanks for the reminder Renee!
