Tuesday's Take Time to Care - In my daily life, I focus a ton on nourishing my family's bodies through food. In the past few years, I haven't done as great of a job nourishing my spirit. My hope is that on Tuesdays I can remind myself how to take the time to exercise, do art, connect with a friend, do a good deed for another, or see the world through someone else's eyes.
My husband and I have been looking for a new chair for our living room for a few months now, but we haven't seen anything we liked better than our old chair. I decided to go ahead and recover our old chair instead of buying a new one.
This is the old fabric. When my mom and I bought it years ago for her house, it looked awesome! Twelve years later, though, we were all sick of the fishing theme!
I went to JoAnne's and bought some really nice brown suede type fabric. I spent just under $100 to recover and re-cushion the whole chair. I carefully matched the grain of the fabric, pinned the cording, hand-sewed the closure, and added the snaps to hold it in place. Do you notice anything interesting about the seat?
Let me give you a closer peak. Now do you see anything?
Yup. The fabric I chose copies your rear-end. I am NOT re-doing this chair again since I spent $45 on the fabric and probably 10 hours on the sewing (cording takes me a little longer to pin).
So when you come to our house, you can have all sorts of fun making butt-prints in our chair! And I now have a conversation piece! Luckily, if you just swipe your hand over it, it disappears!

The chair looks great! I guess the lesson here is to spread out fabric in the store and do the sit test! Ya learn something everyday!
